Day by day itinerary
Day 1 & 2
|
Tsavo West - Serena Kilaguni
|
Depart Nairobi for Tsavo West (4 hours), a huge expanse of wilderness that borders Tanzania. You’ll be staying at the stunning Serena Kilaguni Lodge situated inside the park where you’ll arrive in time for lunch at their restaurant, which has great views over the park. After lunch you'll be taken on a late afternoon game drive and a visit to the Mzima Springs where you may see hippos and Nile crocodiles and many different species of bird. You’ll then return to Kilaguni for dinner and spend your evening relaxing and watching the wildlife arrive at the watering hole overlooked by the lodge’s restaurant, lounge and bar. You can spend the next day taking game drives at your leisure, enjoying the lodges’ facilities or spend the whole day exploring the park with a picnic lunch.

Day 3 & 4
|
Amboseli - Serena Safari Lodge
|
Depart Tsavo West for Amboseli (2 hours), a fantastic park with great views of the imposing Mount Kilimanjaro and with abundant wildlife including herds of elephants, big cats and many birds - it’s a park not to be missed! You’ll arrive in time for lunch at Serena Safari Lodge, situated inside the park 200 acres of private land just outside Amboseli National Park. Sopa Amboseli has 83 rooms, decorated with Masai themed murals and nicely spaced out in the mature gardens. After lunch you will head out into Amboseli National Park for a game drive, after which you’ll return to camp for dinner and an evening relaxing.

Day 5 & 6
|
Tarangire - Maramboi Tented Camp
|
On day five you will leave Amboseli and cross into Tanzania at the Namanga border crossing. Here you will change vehicles* (please see notes) and head to Tarangire where you will be staying at the Maramboi Tented Camp, where you’ll arrive in time for a late lunch. The camp is situated between Lake Manyara and Tarangire, which is dominated by its permanent river, which is a draw to wildlife, particularly in the dry season where herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen. After lunch you will head out on a game drive to explore the northern area of the park before returning to camp for dinner. The next day, you will head out into the park with a picnic lunch to explore the less visited southern area of the park.

Day 7
|
Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Farm House
|
You will leave camp after breakfast with a picnic lunch and spend the day in Lake Mantra national park, a park known for it’s many bird species; over 400 species have been recorded here including the flamingo - large flocks of flamingoes are often present on the lake (depending on the depth of the lake). Also present in the park are the unusual tree climbing lions, elephant and many other large mammals. You will leave the park mid afternoon and head to the Ngorongoro Farm House where you’ll be having dinner and spending the night.

Day 8
|
Ngorongoro Crater - Kati Kati Camp
|
After breakfast, you will take a picnic lunch from the farm and head to the Ngorongoro conservation area, just 5km away, where you will spend the day exploring the Crater and the surrounding area. The Ngorongoro conservation area is a UNESCO World Heritage site and at its centre there is a volcanic caldera that creates a crater 600m deep and 20km across, the crater has a high density of resident mammals and birds, with elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs and rare wild dogs all present. Late afternoon you will head into the Serengeti where you will be staying at the Tanganyika Kati Kati camp; an authentic mobile safari camp situated on the central Serengeti plains with around ten tents, all with large beds and en suite facilities. There is a central dining tent, solar lighting and water heating and a cozy campfire every night.

Day 9
|
Serengeti - Kati Kati camp
|
You will spend the day in the Serengeti, an ancient eco system that has hardly changed in over a million years! The entire Serengeti region covers approx. 30,000 sq km and incorporates the Masai Mara in Kenya, the Ngorongoro conservation area and the Tanzanian Serengeti National park, which is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular park area where you will be spending the day exploring. You can either head out for the day with a picnic lunch or take short game drives with lunch in camp. After your game drives you will return to camp for a sundowner, dinner and an evening relaxing by the campfire.

Day 10
|
Serengeti - Speke Bay
|
You will spend a second day exploring the Serengeti, home to the Great Wildebeest migration, where over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then head west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. Even when the herds aren’t passing through the central Serengeti there is still plenty of resident wildlife including all the Big Five. Late afternoon your game drive will take you to the west of the Serengeti where you will be staying on the shores of Lake Victoria at Speke Bay Lodge where you’ll arrive in time for dinner.

Day 11 to 13
|
Masai Mara - Mara Bush Camp
|
After an early breakfast your driver will take you to the border crossing at the Isibania gate back into Kenya where you will head to the open grassland of the Masai Mara (4 hours), an eco system rich in biodiversity and home to a large variety of bird species and wildlife; the Masai Mara offers great game viewing and bird-watching opportunities. You’ll arrive in time for a late lunch at the wonderfully located Mara Bush Camp, situated by the Olare Orok River. The camp is an authentic bush camp and offers real luxury safari style and is a great place to end your safari. The camp has twelve luxury tents and is not fenced; the Masai warriors look out for your safety while you’re in camp. After lunch you’ll head out for a late afternoon game drive and then spend the next two days taking game drives at your leisure, exploring the Mara reserve and tracking down all the Big Five. On your second day in the Masai Mara you will be picked up early and taken for a morning balloon flight, a unique experience and a great way to see the Masai plains and view game!

Day 14
|
On your final day in the Masai Mara you will have a relaxing breakfast and head out on one last game drive on your way to the local airstrip to catch your flight back to Nairobi, where you will be met by one of our drivers and transferred to your hotel or the international airport for your flight back home.
