Overview

A wonderful safari, and an ideal itinerary for a first-time safari experience, visiting three of the main reserves in southern Kenya and spending a day sight-seeing in Nairobi. You’ll explore the rolling hills of Tsavo, experience the thrill of being up close to elephants in Amboseli, watch the sunrise over Kilimanjaro, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, and track down all the Big Five in Kenya’s world-famous reserve, the Maasai Mara!

​Day-by-day itinerary in brief

Day 1
Depart Nairobi by road
for Tsavo West (5 hours), a huge park made up of woodland, savannahs and riverine habitats and is home to the Big Five. Accommodation is at Serena Kilaguni, a wonderful stone built lodge inside the park, overlooking a watering hole that attracts a lot of wildlife, particularly in the dry season. You'll spend your time on game drives in this very scenic park that covers over 7,000 sq. KM of protected area.

Day 2 & 3
 - Amboseli, Kibo Safari Camp
The next two days will be spent in Amboseli, a fantastic park with great views of Kilimanjaro and abundant wildlife, including herds of elephants and big cats. Accommodation is at Kibo tented camp, located just outside the park, tents are all ensuite and the camp has a pool, lounge, bar and small shop. 

​Day 4 & 5 - Tsavo West to Nairobi - Wildebeest Eco Camp
Spend a day sight-seeing in Nairobi, visiting the Giraffe Centre and Karen Blixen Museum. Accommodation is at the Wildebeest Eco Camp, a pleasant camp in the suburbs of Nairobi, located close to the attractions.​

Day 6 - Lake Naivasha - Sopa Resort
Head to Lake Naivasha for a boat safari and bush walk, where you can see hippos and many species of birds. Accommodation is at Sopa Resort, located close to the lake shore where there is often wildlife wandering around such as bushbuck, zebra and giraffe.

​Day 7 to 9 - Maasai Mara - Basecamp Explorer
Spend three days on game drives exploring the Maasai Mara, a savannah habitat, home to the Big Five and the Great Wildebeest Migration! Accommodation is at Basecamp, a small-tented camp with just 17 tents located on the banks of the Talek river. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a solar heated hot water shower and a private terrace area overlooking the river. The camp has an eco-friendly policy, all waste is 100% recycled and the camp is fully powered by a solar bank.

​Day 10 - Maasai Mara to Nairobi​
After breakfast you'll head back to Nairobi by road.​
