Day by day itinerary

Day ​1
Amboseli  - Sopa Lodge
Depart Nairobi and travel to Amboseli (4.5 hours), a fantastic park that borders Tanzania, you'll have great views of the imposing Mount Kilimanjaro and with abundant wildlife including herds of elephants, big cats and many birds - it’s a park not to be missed! You’ll arrive in time for lunch at Sopa Lodge, situated in 200 acres of private land just outside Amboseli National Park. Sopa Amboseli has 83 rooms, decorated with Masai themed murals and nicely spaced out in the mature gardens. After lunch you will head out into Amboseli National Park for a game drive, after which you’ll return to camp for dinner and an evening relaxing.

Day 2 & 3
Tsavo West - Serena Kilaguni
Wake up early to see the sunrise over the imposing Kilimanjaro, then after breakfast continue your safari onto Tsavo West, which is about a two hour drive through wilderness. You’ll be staying at the stunning Serena Kilaguni Lodge situated inside the park where you’ll arrive in time for lunch at their restaurant, which has great views over the park. After lunch you'll be taken on a late afternoon game drive and a visit to the Mzima Springs where you may see hippos and Nile crocodiles and many different species of bird. You’ll then return to Kilaguni for dinner and spend your evening relaxing and watching the wildlife arrive at the watering hole overlooked by the lodge’s restaurant, lounge and bar. You can spend the next day taking game drives at your leisure, enjoying the lodges’ facilities or spend the whole day exploring the park with a picnic lunch.

Day 4
Tsavo East - Epiya Chapeyu
​After breakfast you’ll leave Kilaguni and head out on a game drive before entering Tsavo East; a plateau of open grassland with giant baobab trees - you'll get a great feeling of being out in the wilderness here. Arriving in time for lunch at the Epiya Chapeyu camp situated on the Galana River, will give a little time to relax and take in the surroundings before taking an afternoon game drive and a visit to the Lugards Falls and Mudanda Rock.

​Epiya Chapeyu is a small family run camp that lies in the heart of Tsavo East; it has 20 en suite semi-permanent tents spread across a large area, all with views of the river and they also have great Italian food on offer!

Day 5 & 6
Tsavo East to Nairobi - Wildebeest Eco Camp
After breakfast and a short game drive along the Galana River where you may see crocodiles, hippo, elephant and lions you’ll head back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch and arrive in time for dinner at the Wildebeest Ecocamp. After a leisurely breakfast the next day, you’ll leave camp and spend the day sightseeing in Nairobi, starting with a visit to the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage in the morning, with lunch at the Karen Blixen Coffee House, followed by either a trip to the Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum. Alternatively, you could head over to the Nairobi National Park and take a nature walk before returning to camp for dinner.

Day 7
Lake Nakuru - Sopa Lodge
​After breakfast your guide will take you to the Premium Lake Nakuru (2.5 hours) where you could see over 400 different species of birds, large numbers of white rhinos, the rare Rothschild giraffe and other plains mammals such as lion, zebra and buffalo. On entering the park you will take a game drive en route to your accommodation at Sopa Lodge that has great views over the lake and park; all the rooms are very spacious and are located at the top of a ridge, all with views over the lake. After lunch you'll head out into the park for a game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 8
Lake Naivasha - Sopa Lodge
​After a leisurely breakfast, your guide will take you out on a morning game drive through the park. On leaving the park late morning you’ll head down the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha and the Sopa Resort (1.5 hours), where you’ll arrive in time for lunch. Sopa is positioned by the lake and has beautiful grounds with huge cactus and many acacia trees and there is often wildlife wandering around such as bushbuck, zebra and giraffe and in the evening you may also see hippos grazing on the lawns. The main building has an interior garden, fireplaces and low comfy leather sofas. The rooms themselves are spacious, Swahili style chalets either with a balcony or a glass fronted lounge area for relaxing and wildlife viewing. After lunch you’ll take a boat safari across the lake where you may see hippos and many species of birds including fish eagles, pelicans and sometimes flamingoes, there will also be a stop along the way at Crescent Island for a short nature walk. After your boat safari you’ll retire to the lodge for the evening where you can take a swim, have dinner and watch the hippos come up from the Lake to graze in Sopa’s grounds.

Day 9 to 11
Masai Mara - Serena Safari Lodge
After an early breakfast your driver will take you to the open grassland of the Masai Mara (4 hours), rich in biodiversity and home to a large variety of bird species and wildlife the Masai Mara offers great game viewing and bird-watching opportunities. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the Serena Mara Lodge, located within the Mara triangle, arguably one of the best locations in the reserve. Serena has 74 wonderfully appointed rooms with amazing views across the savannah plains and there are plenty of facilities including a spa and pool. After lunch you’ll head out for a game drive and then spend the next two days taking game drives at your leisure, exploring the Mara reserve and tracking down all the Big Five. You are not restricted to times and length of game drives with us and you can spend the whole day out exploring the reserve with a picnic lunch if you wish. You can of course also spend some time relaxing at Serena enjoying the lodge’s facilities!

Day 12
After taking breakfast and an early morning game drive, you will head back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch (5.5 hours). Alternatively stay for lunch at the lodge and fly back to Nairobi in the afternoon (optional extra).
